Expansive Blackland Prairie clay swells when wet and shrinks in summer drought, so grading, drainage, and planting beds need planning here. Channell Outdoor Services builds retaining walls, paver patios, and stone borders with that ground movement in mind.

Much of the metroplex sits on montmorillonite clay that can swell sharply after heavy rain. Ground that moves that much can crack paver patios and push retaining walls out of line. We set base layers and drainage paths to handle that movement.
Beds near the house need drainage that moves water away from the slab, not toward it. We pair grading and drainage systems with drip irrigation so soil stays evenly moist through drought and storm cycles. Plant choices favor species with modest water needs.
Older neighborhoods in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington often have tight side yards and mature trees planted close to the house. Our tree and bush trimming keeps canopies clear of roofs and foundations, and our site preparation work plans access around those constraints.
